Ruth's House

Jeanne’s Story

I raised five children as a single mother. My experience taught me what it meant to seek healing, experience redemption, and both give and receive help. Years later, I had a vision of a home where other single moms could live together in community and receive the support they needed to become independent. I want every person, every woman, every mother, to be able to live out their destiny, no matter their life circumstance. So in 2019, I gathered a group and we began to build a vision for Ruth’s House. We started by praying together, and we heard, “start with one.”

God had already prepared my heart for the “one” woman to enter my life: Julie. A beautiful woman and the mother of a then two-year-old boy, Julie escaped a dangerous situation and came to live in my house for 10 months. Through this experience together, we learned about the services that are most helpful to single moms to aid them in living out their God-given destinies. I believe God is a defender of widows and a father to the fatherless and that he places lonely people into families, traditional or otherwise.

With my story within me and this vision before me, I’m excited to launch the next phase of Ruth’s House: the physical home where I hope women and children will find healing, love, and support.
